Full-Service Repair Facility
Bandman offers fast, full-service
repairs for brass, woodwind, and percussion
musical instruments. From minor fixes to complete overhaul work,
Bandman has the in-store expertise and
equipment, as well as the industry's most
reputable vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers
at hand, to keep your instrument looking and
sounding great.
As instrument repairmen,
we really like to see older musical
instruments come through the shop. We find a
certain "heft," consistent sound, and solid
craftsmanship in these horns, and believe that
in most cases, older horns are worth fixing.
Whether you have a vintage "baby" you'd like to
return to its glory days, or your children have
shown interest in your old student instrument from
school, we'd welcome the opportunity to
discuss repair options
with you. We think you will be pleased at
the value Bandman can offer,
whether a quick fix is in order, or more work is
required. We always provide a free repair
estimate before any work is done.
Repair By Mail Program
Looking for
a quality repair shop, but don't live in our
immediate area? With a limited amount of effort,
you can send us your instrument and take
advantage of the same great benefits as our
local clientele. Regardless of where you live,
Bandman can be your hometown
repair shop.
As soon as we originally put up our website, we
started getting calls and emails from folks all
over the country. It seems that many of our
Repair By Mail customers are finding it more
difficult than ever to find the kinds of repair services
they have been searching. Often, they tell us that their
"local guy" retired, they liked Bandman's value
and prices over other alternatives they checked, or
sometimes they have had a less than desirable experience
elsewhere. No matter the circumstance, we put
together the Repair By Mail Program to answer
your call, and we have since
worked on instruments from all over the United
States.
Our Repair by Mail Program is easy. Simply fill
out the Repair Form and include a
completed copy in your shipment to Bandman.
Whether you would like to request certain
services, have a Repair Tech to "look over" your
instrument, or have very specific issues
addressed, we can accommodate your needs. We
always provide a free repair estimate before any
work is done.
Unusual "Fixes"
We've
been in business long enough to see our fair
share of strange and unusual instrument
accidents and on-the-spot "fixes" come through
the shop. We have seen a number of trumpets
pulled to pieces in an attempt to relieve a
stuck mouthpiece, have seen toilet tissue and
masking tape serve as make-shift clarinet cork,
and even had one trumpet that was used for crowd
control after a tense college football game. Of
course, we get chewing gum in a pad cup here and
there, our fair share of rubber bands,
paperclips, and duct tape, but we have also
learned that the bore on certain older student
flute bodies is equal to the diameter of a penny
(don't keep your lunch money in your instrument
case!).
Most of the
accidents we see, however, are just that:
accidents. Trumpet dents, trombone slide dings,
flutes that were
run over by a car (below), or instruments that fell through the bleachers at the
football game... Unfortunately, these incidents
happen sometimes. Trumpets develop sticky valves
at times, flutes lose their headcork and crown,
the neck cork gets compressed over time on a saxophone, and we are convinced
that there is a devious little gnome
somewhere who collects water keys, finger
buttons, and music
lyres.
Whether you
have a simple little fix, you find yourself as a
participant in one of these "unusual" accidents,
or your instrument needs a complete overhaul to
get it back on its feet, Bandman
has you covered. We have the training,
knowledge, skills, tools, parts, and supplies to
do the job correctly, and to avoid the
aforementioned chewing gum and duct tape.
Contact us today and
we'll help you get back to doing what you love:
playing your instrument.

haven't heard from the

Timpani Repair |
|
Replacing worn-out
timpani can be a rather
costly endeavor.
Refurbishing these old
Ludwig Ringers, however,
proved to be a very
cost-effective
alternative. All four
drums were completely
disassembled, cleaned
and buffed,
powder-coated
(framework),
re-assembled with new
EVANS Strata
heads, and then tuned
and adjusted for action.
These pro line kettles
are once again in top
shape. Enjoy! |
